Go Over The Edge for Northwest Children’s Theater!

Tuesday, October 6
1-5pm at The Judy

On Tuesday, October 6, we’re rappelling down The Judy’s 1000 Broadway Building, and we want YOU to join us!

Open to both adults and kids, this is your chance to take on an unforgettable experience while raising funds to provide student matinee tickets to Title I schools.

Every year, Northwest Children’s Theater offers heavily discounted student matinees to all schools.

Additionally, Title I schools receive half of all their tickets for free, thanks to the generosity of our donors year-round and through new fundraising events like Over the Edge.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Participants sign up to rappel — no previous experience required!
  • Each rappeller begins with a minimum $1,000 fundraising goal — but we hope you’ll aim even higher! There are many ways to reach your goal:
    • Ask friends and family to make pledges toward your descent via your personal fundraising page
    • Ask your company or a local business to sponsor you
    • Make a direct donation
    • Make it a fundraising competition with another rappeller
  • On event day, rappellers receive a full training and descend The Judy’s 24 stories — in costume for some extra pizzazz!

Every dollar you raise helps NWCT bring the magic of live theater to more kids across the Portland metro area.

FAQs

How many people can participate?
Only 38 people will get the chance to rappel, so be sure to sign up early to reserve your spot!

How far down will we be rappelling?
A full 289 feet! That’s 24 stories down the side of the 1000 Broadway Building.

Can kids rappel too?
Yes! Kids are absolutely welcome to participate. There are no age restrictions. All participants must weigh between 100 and 300 pounds, and if they meet the weight requirement and are ready for an unforgettable adventure, we’d love to have them join us!

Are there mobility or medical restrictions?
We can accommodate most mobility levels and many medical considerations with advance notice. Let us know your needs ahead of time, and we’ll work with you to make the experience as accessible as possible.

What is the time commitment?
Plan to be on site at the 1000 Broadway Building from 12:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6. Your day includes check-in, training, your rappel, and event wrap-up. There will be plenty of excitement throughout the day!

How do I collect pledges?
It’s easy! NWCT will provide your personal fundraising page, pledge forms, and everything you need to collect donations from friends and family. We’ll be with you every step of the way to help you reach your fundraising goal.
