Acting

Introduction to Acting

Ages 6-14

Learn basic acting techniques, tips and terms. This fun format introduces students to voice projection, stage direction, theater etiquette, scene work and more. Students will be invited to attend Winnie-the-Pooh, for free. Suggested prerequisite to playlabs.

Intermediate Acting

Age 11-16

Review basic acting techniques then move on to in-depth character analysis, monologues, scene work and more. Intermediate students will be invited to attend a free performance of Winnie-the-Pooh. Previous class or performance work required.

Advanced Acting Studio - Session I

Ages 11-16

Study character analysis: explore internal/external forces, physical/psychological traits and how they interact to create characters and effect acting choices. Studio is open to KidsPro NW or by teacher approval. Email Suezann Kitchens, suezann@nwcts.org.

Goblins & Gobstopers!

Ages 7-10

Take great poems by Shel Silverstein, Roald Dahl or Dr. Suess and turn them into a spooky theater performance—the best of two worlds! The class focus is on creativity and self-expression.

Private Coaching

All Ages

One-on-one intensive coaching for musical and non-musical theater. A coach will help you choose/polish music and monologues or work on specific acting needs. T hey will tell you what to expect at an audition and give tips on audition preparation. One session or multiple sessions available. By appointment only, 503-222-2190.

Musical Theater

Song & Dance

Ages 8-14

Students are introduced to voice and dance techniques with an emphasis on musical theater as they work on solos and group numbers from favorite musicals.

Pre-Ballet & Tap

Ages 4-6

This class uses creative movement, music and fairy tales to introduce young students to the fundamentals of classical ballet and tap.

Beginning Ballet

Ages 7-12

Students are introduced to classical basic ballet fundamentals, including body alignment, vocabulary, and basic positions of the feet.

Film and Video

Basic TV/Film Acting

Ages 8-16

Award-winning Sandra Peabody develops talent for television, commercials and film, and coaches both locally and nationally. Join her on-camera class for instant feedback as you work on professional audition and presentation skills, essential improvisation, and scenes using film and commercial scripts.Class is limited to 8.

Nursery Rhyme Time!

Ages 3-5

Mindy will play her guitar and teach students to sing along and act out favorite nursery top ten hits such as Itsy Bitsy Spider, Little Jack Horner and the classic Mary Had A Little Lamb!

Kitty Cat’s Ball

Playlab Classes
The following classes will put on a play. Students will audition,
rehearse, and perform. Everyone gets a part!
Size or nature of roles is at the professional discretion of our instructors.
All roles provide a valuable learning experience. No refunds granted due
to dissatisfaction with assigned roles. Most playlab performances will be
videotaped and made available for purchase.

Grasshopper and the Army Ants

Ages 6-10

Two different ages and skill levels will act in this favorite Aesop Fable with a contemporary twist. Beginning actors will enjoy insect characters and a funny script. The version for the older group is longer with added music and dance! (I) ages 6-8, (II) ages 8-10.

Shakespeare’s Bad Guys & Dolls!

Show Chorus

Ages 9-14

Sing great Broadway songs both traditional and contemporary as you learn voice basics and develop skills in group singing: harmonizing, phrasing, blending, and diction. Previous musical experience encouraged.

Scout & Brownie Badge Workshop

Ages 7 & Up

Boys welcome too—(planned activities may not qualify boys for a theater badge.) Attend a theater class, see Winnie-the-Pooh and complete your theater badge, all on the same evening! Room for a short dinner break is provided. Scout leader is free. Other parents/chaperones pay half-price.
