Acting

Introduction to Acting Ages 6-14
This fun format introduces students to basic acting techniques, terms and tips. Students will work on projection, stage direction, theater etiquette, scene work and more. A ticket to Roald Dahl’s, James and the Giant Peach is included in tuition. Suggested prerequisite to playlab classes.

Theater Games Rule! Ages 9-12
Let out your inner comedian in this important class. Why important? Because improvisation is an essential skill for performance and theater games help build improvisation skills  — plus it is really fun! Join veteran actor/teacher Jeannie Rogers for the best time you’ve had in a class!

Private Coaching All Ages
One-on-one intensive coaching for musical and non-musical theater. A coach will help you choose and polish music or monologues, or work on specific acting needs. Learn tips on preparation and find out what to expect when you audition. One session/multiple sessions available.

Musical Theater


Voice & Dance Combo Ages 8-14
This combo introduces students to basic voice and dance techniques.  The emphasis is on songs from musical theater and performance skills, with work on both solo and ensemble numbers.

Do, Re, Me! Ages 7-10
Do you love musicals? Then this is a great place to start. Learn about matching pitch, basic rhythms and how to sing with expression as you work on favorite songs from great musicals.

Film Skills

Grimm-Glee TV! Ages 8-16
Learn on-camera/audition skills for film and TV. Practice commercials, improvisation and scene work, from fairy tales to high school glee club! Award-winning Sandra Peabody guides you to gain confidence working with both comedic and dramatic film scripts. Limit 8.

Kit Kat Party! Ages 3½-5
When the mice are many and the moon is full the Kit Kat have a special midnight party! Come and join them to play cat games, get into all kinds of cat mischief, sing a catnip song, and rehearse this small play to perform for families. Limit 8.

The Tiny Ant & the Grasshopper Ages 6-8
The industrious Ant has nothing good to say about the casual Grasshopper. This charming story was first told by Aesop, a slave in the 5th century B.C! The story continues to weave its magic and provide fun and challenging parts for today’s young actors.

The following classes will put on a play. Students will audition,
rehearse, and perform. Everyone gets a part!

Size or nature of roles is at the professional discretion of our instructors. All roles provide a valuable learning experience. No refunds granted due to dissatisfaction with assigned roles. Most performances will be videotaped and made available for purchase.

Fairy Tales & Myths

The Velveteen Rabbit…Or How Toys Become Real Ages 7-11
This unforgettable playlab is based on the award winning book by Margery Williams. First published in 1922, the tale tells the story of a stuffed rabbit and his quest to become real. Sad, funny and ultimately heart warming this musical playlab has it all.

Academy for Villains! Ages 8-12

Something is afoot in Essex County, something with fangs! And it is feeding on the students at Junior High school. Best friends Sophia and Max don’t know they will soon be deep in a centuries old vampire mystery that will change their lives as the strange and compelling Dania steps into their lives. Don’t miss this haunting playlab with rolls to sink your teeth into!

Singing for Musical Theater is a specific art form. Not only are the basics of pitch, rhythm and breath support important, but the song must be acted as well. Work with teacher/coach Wendy Steele to polish your skills. Instructor approval necessary. Limit 8.

Stage to Film! Ages 11-16
Acting for film and stage draws from the same talent pool, but techniques differ radically. Veteran Jeanie Rogers will help students work on scenes that demonstrate the application of the two techniques on the same material. Instructor approval necessary. Limit 8.
