Special Note: NWCT has changed our schedule for the fall, offering theater classes on Saturdays only. Our advanced Second Stage programs will move to weeknights. This change allows NWCT's teachers and staff to give both programs more dedicated focus, while increasing the number of classes NWCT can offer during popular Saturday time-slots.

Playlabs

The following classes will end with a playlab performance.
Students will audition, rehearse, and perform.
Everyone gets a part!
Size or nature of roles is at the professional discretion of our instructors.
All roles provide a valuable learning experience.

Island Princess Ages 7-11
Adventure across the ocean in this musical epic. When her island is threatened by a mystical force, a young girl must brave the waves and face the gods of Earth, Water, Love, and Death.

Northwest Children’s Theater has decided to replace its actors with lifelike robots, built to be the perfect acting machines. What could possibly go wrong? Find out, as these NWCT characters come to life, discover they're trapped in a play, and decide to “break the fourth wall” for good.

Curious George Ages 3-4
Monkey around with NWCT! Curious George is a sweet monkey who can't help but get into trouble. This First Stage class is perfect for young monkeys taking their first steps onstage.

Surfin' Safari Ages 4-6
Let’s go surfin’ now, everybody’s learning how, come on and safari with NWCT! Take to the stage and ride the waves in this tubular First Stage class. Students will learn songs, make crafts, and immerse themselves in surf culture.

From intro level to advanced, the following classes are
designed to help students hone specific theater skills.


Acting

Acting Intensive: Character Study Ages 8-11
Develop complex, well-rounded characters in this acting intensive. Part script analysis, part performance, part technique workshop, this class will focus on developing the given circumstances and emotional reality of your character.

Harmony Ages 8-14
Take your vocal performance to the next level. Develop the foundations of proper vocal technique, choral singing, and harmony. Students will explore their vocal range with song styles ranging from musical theater to pop to folk. We recommend taking this class multiple times.

Musical Theatre Intensive: Moana Mania Ages 8-11
Explore the songs and sounds of Moana as you embark on a musical journey through the film's most popular tunes, along with other island-themed songs. Discover who you are, where you are, and how far you'll go in this musical skill-builder.

Physical Comedy Ages 8-11
Make 'em laugh in this high-energy physical comedy workshop! Explore physical techniques from slapstick to clowning, and learn how to get the audience howling. The perfect class for any aspiring comedian!

Theatre on the Edge: Filmmaking Ages 10-14
From Youtube to Facebook Live to feature films, film and video making are an important skill for every aspiring performer and theater artist to develop. In our fall term of Theater on the Edge, students will take an in-depth look at the fundamentals of film-making and get hands-on experience writing, planning, producing, and filming their own short films. Note: Each term, Theater on the Edge will tackle a different skill-set. We strongly recommend taking this class multiple times.
