designed to help students hone specific theater skills.

Introduction to Acting Ages 6-14
This fun format introduces students to basic acting techniques, tips and terms. Class will work on projection, stage direction, theater etiquette, scene work and more. A ticket to Roald Dahl’s, The BFG (Big Friendly Giant) is included in tuition. Suggested prerequisite to playlab classes.

Intermediate Acting Ages 10 & Up
Ready for an intense acting challenge? Take the next step, work with George Elliott on in-depth character analysis, technique and scene work. A ticket to Roald Dahl’s, The BFG (Big Friendly Giant) is included in tuition. Previous class/performance work required.

Improvisation Conversation Ages 9-12
Let out your inner ‘funny’ in this important class. Why important? Because improv is a basic building block of great acting, performing and learning to be genuine —plus it is really fun! So take a chance, let your hair down, color outside the lines and join Ben for some golly good fun!

Private Coaching All Ages
One-on-one intensive coaching for musical and non-musical theater. A coach will help you choose and polish music or monologues, or work on specific acting needs. Learn tips on preparation and find out what to expect when you audition. One session or multiple sessions available. By appointment only, 503-222-2190.

Musical Theater

Classes held in our new Anna G. Bennett Dance Studio!
Some dance shoes are available at a reasonable price.

Sing—Dance—Act! Ages 11-16
Musical theater is a challenging art form, requiring proficiency in three disciplines! Successful performers learn to develop and integrate these and become a “Triple Threat.” Join Roz to sing, dance and act and explore the exciting world of musical theater.

Students will be introduced to basic techniques of voice and dance  with the emphasis on musical theater performance skills in both solo and group numbers.

Grimm Tales Ages 8-11
Learn on-camera skills as you help create an original TV episode inspired by the series Grimm and the classic Grimm Brothers Fairy Tales— with heroes, villains and monsters to choose from!

Award-winning producer Sandra Peabody will guide as you work on professional commercial and film scripts, both dramatic and comedic, as well as audition, interview, improvisation and presentation skills. Limit 8.

Goofy Goblins Ages 3½-5
The littlest goblins play jokes on each other and get into all kinds of mischief as they sing songs, play games and rehearse this small play to perform for families. Limit 8.

The Ugly Duckling Ages 6-8
This popular Hans Christian Andersen story about a misfit duckling and its search for a place to belong is sad, sweet and funny all at the same time. It will win your heart.

The following classes will put on a play. Students will audition,
rehearse, and perform. Everyone gets a part!

Size or nature of roles is at the professional discretion of our instructors. All roles provide a valuable learning experience. No refunds granted due to dissatisfaction with assigned roles. Most performances will be videotaped and made available for purchase.

Fairy Tales & Myths

Goldi and the Three Bears! Ages 7-10
Goldilocks has been visiting the bear’s cottage since 1837! This fall she again encounters the porridge, the chairs, the cozy bed and the Bear family! This version has the whimsy and fun of the original tale but with music and some new twists added! Limit 8.

There Are Giants! Ages 9-12
The Vikings brought us the giant in Jack and the Beanstalk; authors Roald Dahl, Walter Lang and Oscar Wilde created unforgettable Giant stories and characters. Scenes with Giants will provide a creative focus for young actors to work on technique and characterization. A ticket to Roald Dahl’s, The BFG (Big Friendly Giant) is included in tuition.

Musical Theater

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow Ages 9-14
The Headless Horseman Rides Again—this time with music and special effects! This spooky American classic by Washington Irving is a perfect choice for fall. The lively characters and atmospheric setting provide a fun challenge for intermediate to advanced actors.

Contemporary Theater

Monster Soup! Ages 10-15
Focus on monstrous characters in Tim Kelly’s, Monster Soup. The mixed up plot revolves around the weird Ghoul family. Granny Ghoul decides one of her weirdo daughters must marry Fleasom, the villain. He plans to sell the daughters to Barker Brothers’ Circus. (Evil huh?) But the clever Ghouls make sure that Fleasom meets an unexpected yet satisfying downfall. (You have to be there!)

Classical Theater

Little Women Ages 11 & Up
Under the guidance of their beloved mother, the four young March sisters—tempestuous Jo, motherly Meg, shy Beth, and spoiled Amy struggle to keep their family going while Father’s away in the Civil War. In this beautifully dramatized adaptation of the classic novel by Louisa May Alcott, illness, and rivalry cast their shadows as each girl strives to find her true self.
